Speakeasy Jazz is a non profit making club for lovers of modern jazz. Originally founded by a group of musicians who believed that this area could do with a club which provided something other than the traditional / dixieland music which was already well served in this area.
One by one the original founders fell away leaving only us to continue with the project.
Our aim is to continue to build up the club which will enable us to bring down better and better acts and full bands.
We have a membership scheme in operation which is £10 per annum Jan - Jan and gives membership reductions on admissions to every concert. Not only that be last year we amalgamated with Plymouth Jazz Club - www.plymouth-jazz-club.org.uk so that our members also enjoy the same priviledges of the members at Plymouth.
Above all we are a friendly club, most of our patrons are on first name terms.
The admission charges to the concerts go entirely to the musicians performing no wages are paid to the volunteers who run the club.
